If you pay attention to what George was saying on Wednesday, you'll notice this strip is happening at the same time as Wednesday's "A Room with a View". Soon after this scene they've gone inside and have closed the door to get busy. I don't know why, but the idea that Valerie would decide to bring John chicken as a way to make up from their fight just seemed right. Although, it's also kind of like how The Batman doesn't use guns, since his parents were killed by a coward with a gun, but he shot Darkseid only to be "killed" afterward. Valerie breaking down and purchasing some of the Corporal's chicken could have only ended in sadness. I know none of you have the same connection to the characters that I do, but it was really hard for me to draw Valerie in today's comic. Not that it was a difficult drawing or anything... just when I got the expression down in the sketch layer and having to continue to work until it was finished... the look of the betrayal/sadness just made me feel bad.
