So John didn't totally screw things up on
Monday.
There was going to be more to this strip with a conversation back and forth between the two about how their parents were married earlier in their lives than our characters and how our characters remember their parents at their current ages... while it helped with establishing their frames of mind it didn't really have much punch. I might use something from that later when/if the subject comes up again, but right now it's just more important to focus on the chicken.
There's a contingent of readers that want John and Lyn married and popping out little puppies... and there's also a group that want things the way they are. Luckily I haven't heard from anyone who wants the two of them broken up so that's good. I can say that the first group isn't getting their way for the next year at least. I have up through next October mapped out for their relationship and they're not going to have kids for a while.
That's not because I'm against the idea of them having kids at some point. I'm just not in that place in my life so I can't wrap my head around it and don't want to fake it and make unauthentic stories with these characters that I've invested the last five years with. Plus, there has to be other folks like me that are unmarried and childless in their 30s... ZR can be the comic where you see yourself.
That's why I'm doing it. Not because I'm sad and lonely... nope... not that.
Shut up.
