There's a lot of stuff going on in this comic that you might not pick up on right away...
John and Valerie as a couple have been in the cards since
she first became a character in the strip. Frequent commenter
Todd McElmurry actually picked up on it
way back when. That actually kinda freaked Bill and I out when we were both writing the comic as it was planned and we weren't sure if we tipped our hands subconsciously or if Todd just thought it would be kinda cool.
The benefit of having the characters wear a standard costume allows for the gag from Friday that continues on to today's comic where it was revealed of the coupling by having Valerie wearing John's shirts... of course that means we have to have John shirtless and his massive mound of chest hair makes another appearance. The chest hair typically freaks out one or two people.
This strip also has the first appearance of George in a profile pose since I've implemented their current designs. I've been working on getting the characters in more three-dimensional angles to help visually vary the layout of panels. It's something that is a goal of mine for the upcoming year of Zombie Roomie.
And finally, George's adorable line actually is something that
Mary Cagle of
Kiwi Blitz has mentioned about George... how he's not your normal scary zombie and how he's adorable. It stuck with me. She's gone so far as to say she'd fight anyone who says otherwise.... I wouldn't want to throw down with her, she watches a bunch of anime so she probably knows some wacky kung fu style that could kill you in seconds.
