Apparently I didn't get Halloween out of my system with the strips from Friday through Wednesday... so today's was a trick-or-treat based strip too. It's actually based on a really old joke that my Mom first told me, but I gave it a little twist with the Steins. I have shown Karl, Francis' son, before... but this is the first appearance of Elsa his ex. The bride of Frankenstein was never named, so I didn't have much to go on when naming her... so I checked on IMDB and found out that the actress who played the Monster's mate was Elsa Lanchester and I borrowed her name. I didn't want to have her design be a full on reference to the bride, so I changed her hair from the Marge Simpson/ fright wig to a pixie cut... I kept the streak in her hair though. This is the first time I've uncensored the f-word. I wasn't sure if I should or not, but when discussing whether or not to do so with other creators the consensus was not to since it was the punch of the punchline.
