George is starting to unravel due to the Mr. Zed show. Things are going to get worse before they get better... I was concerned that Karl might be too old for a kid's show, but then I decided that it's a comic and it can be a little contrived now and again. I probably should also introduce at least one other child to the cast so I don't run into age issues like that, but that would be yet another character that I don't do something with for half a year at a time like Karl ended up being.
